The New Green California Academy of Sciences Unveiled!

A crowning achievement of sustainable architecture, the Academy will house 38,000 live animals and is on track to receive LEED platinum.

APA Top Ten: Non-Asian themed movies directed by Asian Americans

Asian American cinema took off in the 1970s and 80s under the ideal that such films “for us, by us” could represent the community accurately and provocatively. Today, the tide has turned toward making films about Asian Americans which are not Asian-specific; in other words, these are films (like Mike Kang’s The Motel) which could be about any Americans, regardless of ethnicity. “They just happen to be Asian” has become the new mantra.

After the Korean War, the island became a popular honeymoon destination for Korean couples, due to the island’s warm climate. Many of the couples had wed because of arranged marriages, and the island also became known for being a center of sex education. According to an article in Spiegel magazine, in the late 1980s journalist and travel writer Simon Winchester reported that some hotel employees on the island performed as “professional icebreakers.” In the evenings, the hotel would offer an entertainment program featuring erotic elements, to help newlyweds relax.

Dallas Chinese schools draw more than just Asian students who fight pressure of stereotype

Researchers at Durham University in the UK are working hard to ensure that the academic sector isn’t left out of the multi-touch craze. The still-unnamed “interactive multi-touch desk” is a major part of the SynergyNet framework, an interactive classroom environment they’re building based on a gaming engine called jMonkey.
