10 years ago, I had just finished my last courses for my masters degree in computer science.  I think I started on IIStix in 2002.

I was sharing an apartment briefly with my so called best friend from high school… did not even know how crazy and dysfunctional she was at home.  I’ve since learned a lot about borderline personality disorder and psycho people.  Bad BAD kind of person to have in my life when I got sick.  She’s now married to the person I was dating at the time 10 years ago.

I lost the last 6 years to illness but I’ve improved a lot in the last couple months so now I’m sort of out and about somewhat.  Now I have to start restudying computer science.

I lurk every now and then here but this thread made me feel a bit nostalgic…

10 years ago I was:
fresh out of university and looking for work,
living with my parents,
single and just out of a not so healthy relationship,
spending a lot of time online and trying to figure out what to do next in my life.

Currently
I’m on maternity leave and will be spending the next year with our little guy.  He’s just a little over a month now and pretty amazing.
Before that I was working for the department of health.
Am also married (he’s ok too!) and have a house in a pretty family friendly neighborhood.
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time nursing the baby and trying to figure out what I can do in the little 1-2 hour time blocks I have during the day.

I enjoyed my twenties and learned and grew a lot during those years but my thirties have been a lot kinder to me.

Glad to hear so many of you are doing well and congrats to everyone to whom congratulations are due (bebe, LD, tenjay etc...)!  All the best.

Oh geez. has it already been 10 years? Kyoppo kinda called me and a certain other person out on it, but 10 years ago I started high school. Trying to figure out who i was and what I liked. Puberty hit me like a brick wall.

Now I’m starting pharmacy school, displaced 3000 miles from everything that I’ve called home. Quickly finding very little time to go on forums or to do much of anything. Out and happy. First serious relationship where real emotions are involved instead of just being there for the sake of being there and appearances. Things are on the up and up.

also I would like to echo lemon tree’s sentiment of congratulations to all who have done wonderful things!

friend of mine introduced me to this site back in like 2002 or so, i recall it was the same year i became an american citizen.  i think she showed me one of TSO’s articles.  i recall being appalled and disgusted only to find myself reading more of them.  that introduced me to the site as a whole and eventually i became a huge fan of Min Jung Kim, who’s now a facebook friend though i never met her in person.

iistix.com will forever be a fairly large, ongoing footnote in the history of my internet usage, and i will continue to be a supporter cool grin
