I watched this clip of Anthony Bourdain eating durian and it made me want to gag.

It’s kinda eh for me.  It tastes alright, if it’s fresh and ripe.  Also smells craptacular.

The people I know who love it say it’s so awesome that it’s better than the smell, I certainly don’t feel that way.

I won’t let it anywhere close to where I live though.  That stink hangs around for a long time.

I don’t understand how it can taste good when it smells that bad.

Only when it is ripe when it has that creamy texture and taste. If not I stay far away from it.

if Andrew Zimmern who eats bugs and lizards and various organs and lots of other bizarre foods… if he can’t eat it, it must be pretty up there in the world’s most rank foods.

i personally think it is horrid.

anthony bourdain loves it.  kinda odd.  i would have thought it would be the opposite.

Durian is damn good stuff. Southeast Asians are all over it.

Get past the intriguing smell and the fact that it looks like the female genitalia when you cut into it.

Isn’t that a good thing?

anthony bourdain strikes me as a stunt-eater.  the higher the gross out factor, the more likely he is to want to eat it.

I just started reading A Cook’s Tour.  His Saigon had the same places as the Saigon I went to, but his sounds way more colourful than what I saw.
