any bay area folks been to tekka?  it’s a hole in the wall japanese place that seats only 11 or 12 and is quite particular about their rules.  it’s also one of those places that people line up for - i went on friday and waited for about 45 minutes before it opened.  it’s a very charming place run by just an older oyaji and his wife.  and the food was good!  a little pricey, but very tasty.  i’ll be back.

^^omakase, or chef’s choice.  their printed/posted menu is really small.  when i went, the omakase, was 10 courses and a lot of it is made right in front of you.

“Flora” in Oakland...perfect for a ‘date’. :D Great food and atmosphere.

I had a really nice date at Oliveto in Oakland.  Food was good.  It felt a little cramped though I think.  It was a bit expensive as we ordered wine.

Take that with a grain of salt though, I’m sure I’m just being subjective, it might have been good because of the girl rather than the place.

Also, try ‘Dona Tomas’ on Telegraph.  Good food and super dooper yummy/strong magaritas!!!

Reservation is necessary for both places.

what is that one place you can go to every week and not get sick of?

around me, i mostly spend the weeks wanting to go back to either boiling crab (cajun crawfish and other stuff) or shinsengumi (japanese yakitori), both in fountain valley.

i can also eat lee’s sandwiches pretty much every other day without getting tired of #11 special combination.

i love those two places. i hate waits to. i like the hakata ramen place too.

i can eat a good socal burrito every week. or a bowl of pho.

Have you ever tried hitting up Lollicup for boba? They have a fairly large selection of drinks there plus for every 10 you buy you get one free.

On a side note...I’m really craving Korean fried chicken from Bon Chon in Flushing. Just wanna throw that out there.

4 locations in the bay http://sweetheartcafe.net/index.html
