what is that one place you can go to every week and not get sick of?

around me, i mostly spend the weeks wanting to go back to either boiling crab (cajun crawfish and other stuff) or shinsengumi (japanese yakitori), both in fountain valley.

i can also eat lee’s sandwiches pretty much every other day without getting tired of #11 special combination.

City Kabob in Sunnyvale; it’s this tiny kabob joint in the Sunnyvale Tennis Center that hits the spot after a couple of hours of tennis.

funny, i was thinking about getting those the other day. they have this chocolate cake thing that i get all the time with a cup of coffee, and that is really good, too.

they always get me when i walk by the kids section. i always leave with something—a fuzzy toy, storage boxes...something!

for yakitori i think honda ya is better.  i wish there was a good yakitori place up here.  i found a decent place in downtown san mateo but not as good as honda-ya

for ramen i’m partial to mentatsu, less wait and their cold noodles are a lot better.

used to go kitayama all the time with my coworkers for lunch.  i prefer the sushi bar over the regular seats.

i’ve been to honda ya… the yakitori menu just didnt seem as varied as SSG. it is cheaper and closer to me though, so it’s more convenient.

In Chicago…

White Castle - for jalapeno cheese sliders, of course

Mr. Beef - for Italian Beef sandwiches “gimme a beef, and make it juicy wit peppers n cheese”

Joy Yee - Beef Cubes over tomato sauce rice… and their boba.

Gene and Jude’s - classic Chicago style hot dogs and fresh cut fries

Renga Tei - great sushi and maki rolls

Won Ton Gourmet - Chinatown food, but near work in the suburbs

Gino’s East - My favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza

Bob Chinn’s crabhouse - super fresh seafood and steak with an Asian/Hawaiian influence to it.

Brandy’s - my favorite gyros place near the office.

King’s - my favorite gyros place near my g/f’s house

Portillo’s - italian beefs, beef n cheddar croissant sandwiches, italian beef n italian sausage combos, ribs, u name it.

Las Asadas - some of the tastiest tacos on the northside

Jimmy John’s - really fast, and really good subs

In Hawaii....

Zippy’s - Hawaiian fast food

Ono’s - authentic Hawaiian food.  Their lau lau and kalua pig r the bomb!

Fumi’s shrimp truck in Kahuku - super messy, but super fresh shrimp plates.  The shrimp are harvested daily in nearby ponds. garlic, lemon butter, hot and spicy, sweet and spicy, or a soy-based sauce.

Romy’s Kahuku Prawns and Shrimp Hut - same as above, but use shrimp from their own aquaculture farm and they offer the standard garlic and spicy sauces, and also aspecial asian-style house sauce that includes soy sauce and chile sauce which was my favorite.
