what do you want it for?  i’d probably spend $300 and get a new Eee PC.

Just dealing with reinstalling the software and stuff on and old PC and not knowing what HW components work or not is too much of a pain.  Plus the battery probably doesn’t work well anymore.

^ hell no.  my big problem with them is you cant upgrade or modify the hardware. they are very poorly made, barebones computers and gateway now makes them.

it’s a laptop, people rarely upgrade or modify the hw on laptops anyways.

given the price, it seems like you get something reasonable.  it’s probably got crap battery life and very poor build quality, but you get what you pay for.

I’m fairly certain if you shopped around you could get a better deal on a laptop than a crappy used on off ebay or something at Best buy....

just normal use...surfing, office use...i also d/l lots of torrents for tv shows.  thats about it…

it wont be used for gaming, but i want to have that option if i decide to get a pc game, but if that will drive the price too high, i will do without it

I think the cheapest dell inspiron can handle the surfing and office use just fine, but not gaming.  I think you can get one for $500 with a 17” monitor.

Or maybe take advantage of Circuit City going out of business, if they’re still around.
