i think in my old car, unlocking the passenger door would unlock all of the doors. i started unlocking the driver door after i read about the door test. :D
sf int’l asian american film festival 2010:
the message - somewhat gory mainland chinese movie set in 1942. seems somewhat like an anti-taiwan/anti-japan movie by the mainland because it glorifies “rebels/communists “ against the nationalist and japanese. the drama of trying to ferret out the rat is interesting, the gore, not so much.
the people i’ve slept with: a somewhat slutty asian girl (karin anna cheung from better luck tomorrow) gets pregnant and needs to figure out who the dad is. she is assisted by her gay friend while dealing with her more conservative, religious sister. there are some easy jokes and the story isn’t super, but it’s fun.
stuff in the past few weeks:
love and basketball: the story could have been better but it was fun.
food inc. : you probably change how you eat after watching this. and be angry at some large corporations.
I’ve discovered that 90% of the time I’m on wikipedia, it’s to read the plot of a movie that I’m vaguely interested in, but don’t really care to watch (or I’ve watched it and forgotten what it was about or still didn’t understand it). Yesterday it was ,"The Condemned” and the day before that it was, “Babylon AD”.
the closing night film at the festival, au revoir taipei, was pretty good. it’s a fun romantic comedy and crime caper at the same time (yes, both). it was written and directed by a bay area local, arvin chen, but was all in mandarin and set in taipei. hopefully it will show in some theaters around the country otherwise you will need to see it on dvd.
I found out yesterday there is a Rush Hour 3. Actually, I think I knew there was a Rush Hour 3 and assumed I had already seen it. It was on Cable yesterday afternoon and I guess I haven’t seen it. I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss out on anything.
