All those little kids representing all the diferent Chinese ethnic groups are cute.

I wonder how many of them are oppressed back home.

Hey, Steven Lopez on the Coke commercial!

Talking about love and togetherness, when his sport involves putting his foot so violently upon the body of his opponent to cause “trembling shock.”

Some propaganda, but not really a big deal.

And the Ramos, or Ramo, the NBC Chinese expert is dropping Mandarin left and right.  Impressive.

Filipino prisoners doing Thriller have nothing compared to the Chinese ceramic movable type guys.

I wonder how much they paid Zhang Zhimou.

He should never have to work again.

I’m going to say right now that London will probably not be so good.

And the Choreogrpahed Chinese History show skipped past the Cultural Revolution, but that’s no big surprise.

It’s not airing here until 730! :(

I guess I could watch online but I’ll wait for TV.

That Olympic panda is so cute.

And now comes the tai chi chuan.

And little kids?

This is an allegory for the environment?

It’s nice to know looks aren’t a big deal when it comes to male Chinese pop stars.  At least he looks masculine, instead of all those other fairyboy Asian male pop stars.

How tall is Sarah Brightman?

This is an awesome opening ceremony.  However, I think it is more reflective of China’s desire to assert a modern identity upon the world.  I don’t think you’ll see anything like that in London in ‘12 or Chicago, if it gets the 2016 games.  The United Kingdom and the US, don’t really need to do that sort of thing.  Also Europe very much embraces its Old World identity, but obviousl, is not burdened with a stereotype of backwardness that China probably does.  As for any potential US games, as long as we don’t start a war during our opening ceremonies, we;ll be alright.

What is with those weird Chinese cheerleaders lining the stadium?

They hired a Korean didn’t they?

Egh.

The nations come in based on the number of strokes in the Chinese character that represents their name.  Interesting.
