I’ve seen gas price as high as $5 per gallon in some areas. I have decided to drive less and when I do drive, I try not to drive aggressively (keeping the RPM below 3000 and try not to stop and go). How has gas price affected your driving habits?

my car has a MPG gauge, and i cry when i see it hit below 5 (when accelerating from a stop). i tend to ease off the gas more nowadays, im still tempted to floor it every once in a while when there is a particularly slow car in front of me.

You forgot the “I will use mass transit more” or “I will bike/moped/motorcycle to wherever more” options.

i’m job hunting now and am seriously only considering the downtown area so i can take the 25 cents dash line(s) to and from work.

i’m job hunting as well and if i do get a job in the city, i’ll be moving there just to save on gas.

I drive a bit more conservatively at moments, but not significantly.
I take the bike a lot more.

When I was in college, gas was around $1.50.  Now it’s almost $5.  It used to be that making a trip to the store or most places was negligible in terms of cost.  Now going to the grocery store actually costs about $3 in gas.  There are a bunch of activities I used to do that now would cost more in gas to get there than the price of the activity.

I think I drive something like 60~100 miles every day.  My car averages between 27~32 mpg (according to the on board system).  I probably will not change my driving habits anytime soon.

i just drive my gf’s car from time to time so i haven’t really changed.  living in the city now, i get a little stir crazy being in a car for too long.  driving to ki’s house was farther than i’d been in a few months.

I’d loooove to get a Vespa GT if I had the money to spare. I think Vespas are so fun and chic.

I wonder if these 170 mpg hybrid Vespas are out yet?

i ride my motorcycle if it doesn’t rain. getting around 60mpg with my 250cc.

i hypermill (cruise ctrl behind a big car, coasting to a stop, driving slower etc etc) when i have to travel more than 20miles in the car.

hypermilling increased my highway gas mileage from 24mpg to 29mpg
