So, I am going to an Anime Convention on Saturday.

No, I am not going to dress up.

I’m going to work an Obama booth there.  However, I will have time to walk around and see the sights as it were.

I would also like to do a write up for it for IIStix.

Are there any specific pictures people want me to try and get?  Dudes that look like Comic Book Guy?  Really awesome costumes, or frighteningly bad ones?  It’ll be like a scavenger hunt.  Photos will be posted on Sunday I suppose.

List them here.

They do have an Asian-American panel there and one on feminist ideology in anime, which I plan on attending.

We should just do a Con-Report as I planned to go to Otakon and see what was going on there.

take a picture of
...someone holding a ridiculously large sword
...as many ninjas as possible in one picture
...someone in a cardboard robot costume
...someone who probably doesn’t like anime, but just wanted to wear a thong around
...someone in costume, but is at the wrong convention… ie. a klingon or import model
...video game t-shirts
...a cutter
...neil patrick harris

What is a cutter?  Like someone who cuts themselves?  I can go to Cook County Mental Health Services and do that on the regular.

well, it’d be easy to find one there… You have to find one at the anime convention to make it more challenging.

I’m sure I can find someone with self-esteem issues at the Anime Convention to find a cutter, is it cheating that I’m also going with a clinical therapist?

Oh, and if I find someone dressed as NPH, riding a unicorn, I think someone owes me a beer.

i think it would be interesting to pass out free condoms at an anime convention and another convention and compare which audience took more of them.

It is my experience, that conventions are nerd freakniks.

Its a place where they feel comfortable and accepted and the hormones fly.  Generally, a girl has her pick of the litter at these places.

depending what convention you go to, prepare for the worst.  Any of the older crowd like folks our age group will be fine and easy to talk to but man, pre-teens to late high school whom make up a lot of a given anime convention… well they’ll be your target if you’re looking for something entertaining to take photos of

One time I met this white otaku through an acquaintance. I introduced myself with my real first name, which is white as hell. She introduced herself with a Japanese internet handle. I couldn’t tell if I heard correctly, and then couldn’t tell if she was being serious. She was being serious. If you run into any of these people, you should introduce yourself as Adolf.

Just one of many reasons why I avoid these conventions, despite being a nerd.

No.

Hell no.

Only because I’ve read weird things about anime people running up and higging each other, I don’t want them touching me.  And I don’t want to accidentally send to wrong signal to closet furries there.

so i guess suggesting that you make a trapdoor in the butt-area for easy access is out of the question.
