I was in Beijing when quake hit. I didn’t feel a thing but supposely people in high rise buildings definitely felt it.

I wonder how the average Yangon, Myanmar resident feels, as news of another cyclone which will hit Yangon and the Irrawaddy Delta is spooling up, filters in from the internet and foriegn news sources, but not their own government.

Or that their government is now actively starting the refuse foreign aid, albeit from Thailand, but still.

You know, NATO didn’t have a problem saving people in Bosnia and dropping food and aid without permission.

I’m pretty sure the Thai’s wouldn’t care if the US used their airbases to annoy the Burmese.

We should invade.

let’s just drop in food, no need to invade another country.  plus, china would get really pissed if we invaded.

Hopefully Ki has gotten as dar as, in his words, “a Cambodian rice farmer.”

This way, the Burmese will say, “Who’s that on the border, looking in to our country?”

“Just some Cambodian rice farmer.”

Sneaky, sneaky.

I have been fortunately enough to not get too dark. I have been staying in watching 24/7 Starcraft tournaments on TV.

I’m heading out to Everland today so we’ll see how dark I get.

Okay, I’m a bit naive, but I really don’t get what benefit at all the Myanmar government thinks its getting by doing as they are doing.

If I’m to look at the absolute worst potential in the keyholders of a society (in this case, government and military), perhaps they are looking at the short term profit of taking donations and selling them, or some how profiting off them directly. Other than that, pride? The inevitability of media that will surge in with aide?

Likely nothing that would make logistical sense to us.

I’m purely speculating that it’s a matter of control.  They don’t want the foreign media to see what it’s like, nor do they want their people to see what the outside world is like.

Plus they can sift through the commodities coming in and keep the good stuff for themselves, and maybe distribute old food they have in storage to the people.  etc.

Wow, those pictures posted on IIStix hot links of the girl getting her leg amputated with no anesthesia.  That’s something unimaginable!

I think we should build all buildings from bamboo from now on.
