This year I’ve started playing SC1 again with college friends.  Some subgroup of the whole bunch has been playing via hamachi pretty much every weekend.

It’s amaazing how well the gameplay has held up over the years.

Question: After the release of the Beta, how long does it take to release the final retail version? How did things work out with the first Starcraft, WOW and Diablo?

***Update - found the answer** ---- Wow. A year AFTER the beta. Yikes.

A minor glimpse of the actual hardware requirement needed…

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/91943-StarCraft-2-Beta-Will-Include-Map-Editor

“StarCraft 2 will require “really good hardware” to run at the highest visual settings, according to the report, with a “mainstream dual core” CPU, two gigabytes of RAM and a 9800 GT video card are recommended for medium settings.”

Definitely will need to upgrade from my six years old Pentium 4. Alienware here I come......

Wow, those are surprising min specs coming from Blizzard. I preferred it when they catered to the lowest common denominator.

Not surprised. Given how Blizzard back in 1998 is completely different from today. The original development team is not even at the company anymore. That also goes for the management team. I was pretty skeptical with the requirement specs that was posted in this thread earlier. Well defiinitely gives me a reason to upgrade my computer.

Ah okay.

Finally a somewhat concrete expectation. In a store near you by around the end of this year.

Now after all these years I finally have a reason to stand in line at the mall to sit on Santa’s lap!

Battle Report #3 leaked was DE-LISH.

though I am still slightly concerned of the amount of mana/micro that’s required now. Instead of the macro-economy, which still plays, but it’s more gray-scaled vs. before.

David Kim (Protoss) vs Yeon-Ho Lee (Zerg)

Part 1

Part 2

That “neural parasite” ability seems pretty powerful…

I don’t like that Protoss Nullifier.

That David Kim is one sick mofo. He beats everyone.  G.... I think you have finally met your match!

Nah, ActiBlizz is pretty set on getting the game about Q4 of this year.

However, I wonder if that thwole no LAN business is an excuse for them to say, “Oh, to give you the bes LAN experience evar, we need to push it back.”
